Everyone

Entertainment and education will be my goal on this blog journey, as I attempt to explain the "word-wizardry"of Everyone Needs a Little 'Cake'. I will be entertained, along with you, as I share, unedited. Baring truths along the way, always teaches. Always.

(Yes, I coined the phrase "word-wizardry" and the phrase "I claim to be a word-wizard". If you use these phrases without seeking my approval first, you then owe me a piece of your cake, that I know you will bake, and I like my cake with coffee. One cream and one sugar please, in my coffee, and thank you. Oh! And one last thing, I cannot have anything with hazelnuts – I’m deathly allergic!)

OK, now that I have cleared up the disclaimer piece of my blog, Merriam-Webster states that the word ‘everyone’ is: “a–pronoun–every person; everybody”. Check! Notice these two words placed side by side mean so much more than when we separate them. "every" (extreme) "one" (boring) Every”thing" is always better when shared by two! Case and point: cake!

The entry before everyone in the dictionary is, in fact, "everyman". How poetic, for my writing today; or as Whitney croons, "I'm every woman, it's all in me...." I could do a play on words, all day, but instead, I ask everyone to join me in a little exercise, sometime today, and tomorrow, too, for that matter. This little exercise can't be done in one fail swoop. I promised you a journey, and a journey, you will get!

Just take a moment longer while you primp and/or dress in front of the mirror today and tomorrow…you are dressed right now as you read this, right?...then… pause. Pause and listen to the voice in your head. What is it saying? Is it authentically your own voice? Or is it the voice of a scolding parent? Maybe a scolding teacher? A competitive sibling? Is it a positive voice? Or is it a negative voice? Then take a breath...a deep
one…right from the bottom of your tummy, all the way up to the tippy-top of your lungs. Then exhale. (Seriously, try this pause with me. “Don't knock it 'til you try it” – crap. Now I bet I owe somebody a piece of cake. Fine. Practice what I preach.)

After you pause, and breath and listen, make a mental note about where some of these voices come from. It can be a combination of many people, many events. A combination of events which have touched you deeply, and some things not so deeply, but touched you none-the-less.

These brief pauses in my my life over the last 10 years have taught me to see myself in a humble way, which then allows me to see you and the world through a clearer lens. I see us all as human.Yup. *head nodding up and down* I am human. I also know that I believe in my heart of hearts that if we simply paused, looked around, and listened, we would see and hear more of our fellow human beings. Pause and listen. New concept? Nope. Some old concepts are simply good reminders.

Thank you to all the humans who have crossed my path. Thank you to all the human beings willing to read my blog and share a laugh or two, and maybe even some old and new concepts as well.

Because my lens is clearer, and no stone should go unturned, if there are any droids, aliens, or avatars actually reading my blog right now can I get the location of your spaceship? (Because I have some really cool new friends who would LOVE to meet you and see your spaceship!) What? I can’t look out for my peeps and fulfill their geeky desires? That’s what friends are for, right? And I did just explain my belief system around "everyone"....

Goodnight Universe. Sleep Tight.
